The predominant choice for overhead conductors in distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission lines is the ACSR conductor. Comprising multiple layers of 1350-H aluminium enveloping one or more steel wires (galvanized, aluminium-clad, or galfan-coated), this conductor type enhances strength-to-weight ratio. This advancement enables extended span lengths and reduced overall costs. For ACSR/GA conductors, the central core is galvanized, while ACSR/AW conductors employ an aluminium-clad steel core. Implementing an aluminium-clad steel core results in a noteworthy 5% decrease in electrical resistance and transmission line loss under equivalent loading conditions. Furthermore, this configuration leads to a 2.5% augmentation in transmission line capacity with similar energy loss. The ACSR/AW conductors’ exceptional resistance to corrosion renders them an optimal choice for environments with industrial pollution, urban settings, and coastal regions.

APPLICATION
Used as bare overhead transmission conductor and as primary and secondary distribution conductor and messenger support. ACSR offers optimal strength for line design. Variable steel core stranding enables desired strength to be achieved without sacrificing ampacity.
DESCRIPTION
Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) is concentrically stranded conductor with one or more layers of hard drawn aluminium wire on galvanized steel wire core. The core can be single wire or stranded depending on the size. Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of the complete cable with grease.
